I always spend time quickly getting to know my subject by doing a pre-interview; it's a habit from my documentary/segment producing days. Apart from adventurous vs. reserved, I want to know what they like about my stuff; what they like about other photographers, etc. Once shooting, I like to try different things to see what resonates, as well as, if possible, get them involved in the creative process. If they aren't comfortable with that, no problem, I always have plenty of ideas as well as the intention of recreating something that I am a fan of... Perhaps something from another photographer, a movie, or a famous painting. But having studied multiple forms of art in college, I love to start with a form and then build upon it, making it our own. Bottom-line, my goal is to take the best picture of you that will ever be taken.
Awards, honors and recognition
Besides my Emmy nomination, I've won for Best Documentary and Cinematographer in film festivals all over the world. My latest film, "The Love Story of Leonard Knight" is rated a full five starts on Amazon.
A fun fact about me
While studding film and TV in college, I dropped out twice, and spent a couple years traveling around South Pacific and Europe.
